Non-Profit

Nastavia was established with a clear public-interest mission: to use technology, knowledge, and professional expertise to support meaningful and lasting change.

This mission remains central to our work. Nastavia contributes to public initiatives, supports institutions and professional communities, shares knowledge, and develops resources that can be used freely by others. Our activities focus on areas where our experience can provide practical value, including digital transformation, institutional development, data and knowledge management, research, professional capacity building, and voluntary standards.

We believe that useful knowledge should not remain limited to a single organisation or project when it can help strengthen a broader public and professional ecosystem.

Advisory Support

Nastavia provides advisory support to public institutions and public-interest organisations in areas such as digital transformation, technology adoption, enterprise and data architecture, governance, information management, and institutional development.

Our objective is to help organisations understand their challenges, assess realistic options, and make informed decisions. We place particular importance on solutions that are sustainable, appropriate to the institutional context, and capable of being maintained and developed over time.

Training and Capacity Building

Lasting transformation depends not only on technology, but also on the people responsible for managing and using it.

Nastavia supports training and capacity-building initiatives for public-sector professionals, partner organisations, researchers, and professional communities. These activities connect technology with the wider questions of organisational processes, responsibilities, governance, data quality, and public outcomes.

Our aim is to build practical knowledge that participants can apply within their own institutions rather than simply introduce new tools or terminology.

Research and Open Knowledge

Research and knowledge sharing are important parts of Nastavia’s work.

We undertake and support research related to digital transformation, governance, public administration, data, regulation, information systems, and responsible artificial intelligence. This may include applied research, conceptual models, methodologies, pilot initiatives, analytical publications, and reusable professional resources.

Where appropriate, we make selected outputs openly available so that other organisations can build on existing work, test new approaches, and avoid repeatedly solving the same problems in isolation.

Practical and Technical Assistance

Public institutions and non-profit initiatives often need practical support alongside strategic advice.

Nastavia may assist with digital systems, technical requirements, documentation, data structures, architecture, and related operational challenges. Such assistance is intended not only to resolve immediate issues, but also to improve reliability, clarity, sustainability, and institutional ownership.

Collaboration

Complex public challenges are rarely solved by one organisation alone.

Nastavia works with public institutions, universities, researchers, development partners, professional associations, technology organisations, and other responsible partners. These collaborations may involve research, training, institutional development, pilot projects, open resources, digital tools, or shared methodologies.

We value partnerships that combine professional expertise with practical experience and local knowledge. This helps ensure that proposed solutions are relevant to the institutions and communities they are intended to serve.

Nastavia Voluntary Standards

An important part of Nastavia’s public-interest work is the development of the Nastavia Voluntary Standards, or NAVS.

NAVS documents provide structured and reusable approaches to specific issues in information systems, digital governance, data representation, architecture, and related fields. They are voluntary by design and are intended to support organisations that need practical guidance, common terminology, or a consistent methodological foundation.

The standards are published at standards.nastavia.org, the dedicated home of the NAVS collection.

NAVS materials may be adopted, adapted, discussed, and further developed. Their purpose is to encourage consistency, interoperability, transparency, and shared understanding across organisations and professional communities.

Our Commitment

Nastavia’s non-profit activities reflect our belief that technology and knowledge should serve the public good.

Through advisory support, training, research, practical assistance, collaboration, open resources, and voluntary standards, we seek to help institutions work better, strengthen professional communities, and support responsible digital development.

This commitment is not an additional part of Nastavia’s work. It is one of the main reasons Nastavia exists.
